Hart Valley

Features of the Hart Valley

The natural beauty of this part of Hampshire cannot be overstated. The photographs on this page illustrate how the Hart Valley contributes a cohesive and connected environment that we cannot afford to destroy with piecemeal developments.

This video shows some of the countryside that will be destroyed should the proposed housing development at Grove Farm and Pilcot Farm go ahead.

Richard and I got up before dawn one Saturday in late May 2012 to experience the dawn chorus and hear the day wake up. We walked the footpaths through and around Pilcot Farm and Grove Farm, which are two of the sites most affected by the proposed housing development.

We walked right around the local hillock known as the Tump which forms part of the site. It was a bit overcast but skylarks were clearly seen and heard singing away for hours. The skylarks live and breed on this open part of the landscape and form a community with other local pairs. There was lots of birdsong and several mute swans and a buzzard flew overhead.

We also walked Green Lane, which forms part of a series of ancient paths and lanes, and is well used by locals and walkers and is also one of the main footpath routes out of Fleet to the Hart Valley
